BMERCL Open House

The Biomedical Engineering Core Research Laboratory opened up officially to the UH community with its Open House on April 30th, 2008. Dr. Matthew Franchek and Dr. Daniel Martinez hosted the event to over 30 attendees. Drs. Daniel Martinez and Laura Gutiérrez gave tours of the facility. Graduate students were stationed next to the instruments to answer any questions the attendees may have had. Among the attendees were Dr. Donald Birx, Vice President for Research, Dr. Joe Tedesco, Dean-Cullen College of Engineering, Dr. William Fitzgibbon, Dean-College of Technology, Dr. Heidar Malki, Assoc. Dean of Research-College of Technology, Dr. Stuart Dryer, Chair-Department of Biology and Biochemistry, and Dr. Dirar Khoury, Methodist Hospital Research Institute.

 

Biohouston breakfast forum

On August 21, 2009, BioHouston hosted is monthly Breakfast Forum at the University of Houston Hilton Hotel.

The program included:   

  • Announcement of the Department of Biomedical Engineering by  Dr. Joseph Tedesco, Dean Cullen College of Engineering
  • Importance of Biomedical Engineering to the UH System and Houston by Dr. Donald Birx, Vice President for Research and Vice Chancellor of the UH System 
  • Biomedical Engineering at the University of Houston by Dr. Metin Akay, Chair of Biomedical Engineering

    • Tours of the  Biomedical Engineering Core Research Laboratory followed the event
