Thien Lieu

Thien was born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He earned B.S. degree with Honors in Chemical Engineering from the University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City in 2015. After graduation, he worked as a research assistant in Dr. Phan’s lab at the same university. In Fall of 2016, he came to the United States and joined the Daugulis group. His research interests include copper-catalyzed C-H bond functionalization, preparation of polyfluorinated α-diimines, and Brookhart-type α-diimine ligand synthesis by employing cross-coupling methodologies. Thien earned his PhD degree in Dec 2021. He is currently a Scientist in the Synthetic Chemistry Group at Olon Ricerca Bioscience LLC.
